Stop the War Coalition

This website highlights the controversy surrounding USA’s fight against “terrorism”.

It provides up-to-date articles on the world’s political stance on war, and include stories of witnesses and those affected to showcase how futile war is.

Additionally there are protest dates opposing the war, the most recent one being this Saturday (16th Jan), acting as a remembrance to those who were innocently killed:

Around the site there are graphical propaganda pieces like the one above. (http://stopwar.org.uk/content/view/1698/186/).

There is always a battle between pro-war vs anti-war campaign graphics.

  • Which one is more effective?
  • Can we say that as war is still an issue that the anti-war graphic ephemera has not succeeded?
  • Is there a more effective form of conveying the message? Through video or photography perhaps.

Good points, I think I will definitely subscribe! I’ll go and read some more! What do you see the future of this being?

    • The Graphical Researcher Says:

      Hey there, thanks for visiting!

It’s difficult to say but obviously I wish for war to end, whether or not graphics can actually can heavily influence that decision is a different matter.

Anti-war ephemera is highlighting the tragedies, creating a visual awareness at the seriousness of the matter, but it doesn’t seem to be a deterrent to sending more troops to battle. More of a reminder of how futile it is in regards to public funds and casualties.

Pro-war campaigns, like “Join the army” adverts, I guess it’s doing the job as it ‘glamorises’ a soldier’s role in the battlefield. It doesn’t mention the likelihood of being killed or severely injured. Maybe the only experience they have of this are from video games?

I don’t think war will ever cease, if American troops stops some other country will probably take over to show power and dominance.

      What do you think?
